Presidential inaugurations of the past and present

President Elect Donald Trump’s inauguration will take place Friday Jan. 20. President Barack Obama will be stepping down and the U.S. will be moving from an era of “Yes, we can,” to “make America great again.” Inaugurations are a tradition of American politics. The attendees, the performers and the inaugural balls all get international attention.

This year as Donald Trump becomes president, people are also anticipating protests. The Women’s March on Washington to take place the day after Trump’s inauguration is building to be one the America’s largest protests. Celebrities including Mark Ruffalo, Shailene Woodley and Michael Moore will boycott the ceremony. Below is a look at presidential inaugurations of the past and what we might expect of the events for  Trump.
