A man is suffering from what police call “life-altering” injuries after an alleged road rage incident in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police were called to investigate a report of an assault near Airport and Coventry roads sometime after 6:30 am on Thursday morning.

Police confirmed that during the “altercation between two drivers,” one driver got out of his vehicle while the other man hit him with his vehicle and drove off.

The suspect in the hit and run was located not far from the scene and has been taken into police custody.

Police say the victim has been moved to a trauma center with serious injuries but is expected to survive.

Police confirmed the investigation is underway and the reason for the road rage is yet to be determined. Charges have yet to be laid.

Cst. Sarah Patten said “We want to urge the community, please do not engage in road rage incidents. If you are being instigated into an altercation, drive to a police station and provide as much information as you can to the officers inside the station so they can follow up with their investigation.”

“It’s really not worth it.”

Patten further added that it is best to avoid eye contact with people instigating an altercation.

Peel Regional Police tweeted that the roadways have been reopened.
