Black History Month has been recognized for many years, but in Canada, the first celebration was in Feb. 1996. Rosemary Sadlier is an author and activist who worked to make Black History Month recognized in Toronto. Through her work as an author and in community outreach services, Sadlier was successful in getting Black History Month recognized nationally. She helps us recognize that Black History Month isn’t just about the story of slavery, but it is a time to remember the success of black lives and to continue making history. In the full interview below, Sup? Sheridan’s Quin Vertolli talks with Sadlier about her inspiring message.
