As of Tuesday Feb 16th 2021, ski hills in Ontario’s Grey zones will be opening back up for business.
The slopes will look a different with new Covid-19 precautions in place.
Glen Eden Ski Resort in Milton, is looking forward to welcoming back skiers and snowboarders for the rest of the season. Visitors will need a reservation. You can book your visit to Glen Eden on their website.
Glen Eden Visitor Center representative Megan Smith lets us know that visitors will also be required to complete a health screening prior to visiting.
In addition to this, wearing masks while inside and outside at the resort will be mandatory, however it is important to note that cloth masks/balaclavas resort-goers normally don are counted as masks and are okay to wear while at the resort.
Smith encourages all patrons to get dressed at home or in the parking lot as capacity in the lodges is reduced and lockers will be unavailable to the public.
Lift operator at Blue Mountain resort, Liam Felts shared that you can expect to see similar restrictions and precautions at the Collingwood resort.
Previously at Blue Mountain you would have to maintain a six feet distance between you and anyone out of your family/social circle while on the lifts, however they are looking to adapt a model seen at sister resort, Mont Tremblant, in which there is a one seat space between riders, which Felts hopes will make for a more efficient and more enjoyable time at the resort.
Felts anticipates almost full occupancy occurring on the weekend after opening, as snow sport enthusiasts are gearing up to get use out of their pass for the remaining month of the season.
