Sheridan’s annual Winter Clubs Fair took place from January 29th to February 2nd at all three Sheridan campuses.
The fair was organized by the SSU(Sheridan Student Union).
The event gave students the opportunity to explore clubs based on interests, hobbies, passions, and the area of the field they’re studying. Students have the option of joining a club.
The SSU says the fair promotes engagement and diversity.
Club coordinator and Bachelor of Animation student Zayna Marshall says the clubs fair is focused on showcasing all of Sheridan’s clubs and the clubs opportunities and engagement.
The clubs at the fair ranged from social clubs to academic clubs.
Relay for Life is a new social club and a fundraiser organization across Canada for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Claudia Root is a student in the Bachelor of Film and Television program at Sheridan. Root is also co-president of Relay for Life. Rot says numerous post-secondary schools are participating and we’re planning a big fundraising event on March 15th, and we’re fundraising for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Academic clubs support a specific Sheridan program.
The Sheridan Illustration Council Club coordinates regular meetings monthly to bi-monthly with faculty to plan and organize a variety of events.
The Illustration Council Club is where the first, second, third, and fourth-year illustration students can meet, talk, collaborate, and network. “We do co-op night, which is an information night for third years that are about to start their co-op, and we also plan out events related to the grads award show that we put on, or we had to decorate the fourth-year room night,” says co-president and Bachelor of Illustration student Kenzo Cadg.
