Healthy cooking is an essential skill for students living on campus. The advancement of society, education and culture demands new skills from students to attain. Students often forget to learn life skills during stressful deadlines and busy socialization.

Learning to cook healthy recipes saves time and money. The weekly groceries are budget-friendly, as students can cook more in comparison to the cost of unhealthy meals.

balanced diet improves metabolism to manage body weight, sleep, academic performance and mental health. Mental health concerns for students in colleges and universities are alarming. Nearly 25 percent of cases are under the age of 25 years.

A student’s life is stressful and full of anxiety. They tend to munch on junk food irrespective of counting calories, especially at nighttime. To boost brain and memory power in a nutritious way, students should try to include these brain foods in their diet.

Virtual cooking is made easy for Sheridan students and the community. SSU is organizing a virtual cooking event to demonstrate how to cook an easy ‘Mushroom Bolognese’ recipe. It will promote cooking at home, which is easy, quick and pocket-friendly.

The importance of learning to cook from home could not be more relevant during a pandemic. Many people feel safer enjoying their favourite dish in the comfort of their own home. This will benefit students, as they can learn about cooking by eating at home and staying safe.
