Sheridan to host “Stories of Home”  launch event

The launch event for the Sheridan College Stories of Home project will take place at Hazel McCallion Campus (Mississauga), the C-Wing Atrium, on Thursday, June 1, from 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm.

A research initiative born of a shared passion for storytelling and funded by SRCA, Stories of Home was brought to life as the product of two years of intense effort by a team of students, alumni, and professors from the Sheridan ESL, Journalism, and TESOL Plus programs.

Storyofhome.ca, an ESL (English as a Second Language) community hub and platform, consists of multicultural experiences, presents video interviews, poems, memories, stories, and artworks to improve learning, tolerance and connection in our ever-changing and diverse society to the attention of its audiences.

Saeed Teebi, author of Her First Palestinian, will be the guest speaker at the event, hosted by Kawther Ramadan and Mehmet Oner, who are graduates of the Sheridan College Journalism program and project team members. Each event participant will be presented with a book of Saeed, and the participants will have the chance to have their books signed by the author.

ESL Professor Diana-Crina Catargiu, a project team member, will give a speech at the event.

There will also be a photo booth for guests to immortalize their memories of this special day.
